Welcome to QK-Kamakura!  The letters QK stand for the Japanese word of the same pronunciation ‘kyukei’, which means to relax and take a break!

Kamakura is a unique city, steeped in the history and culture of the samurai spirit. It served as the de facto capitol of Japan for 150 years and was once the fourth largest city in the world.   Today it is a more laid back town, popular for it’s beaches and nature and many sightseeing spots. Whether touring the temples, hiking the hills around the city, relaxing at the beach, or enjoying some of the city’s culinary delights, visitors are sure to make many wonderful memories here.

Although the site presently only scratches the surface of all that is Kamakura, we plan to continually add more information to help visitors explore this beautiful city.  Please enjoy the site – come back to visit from time to time to see what’s new, and most of all, please come for a QK to Kamakura to experience it firsthand sometime soon!
