Hasedera is perhaps the most picturesque temple in Kamakura. Luscious grounds, immaculately groomed, offer some of the best photo opportunities in the city. Winding paths climbing to a view of the sea, are punctuated with stunning vegetation and religious artifacts as breathtaking as the hike itself.
Many of the visitors to Hasedera are actual worshipers who have come to beseech the gods, and observing their various rituals adds a distinct charm to the atmosphere. A wave of Zen flows freely over the crowds, ensuring those who visit leave feeling a bit more enlightened by their sojourn there.
