Tucked away in the back streets, just off of Onari Shopping Street on the east side of the station is the endearing Wander Kitchen. To find the small gravel alley that leads to the cafe, watch for a pink flamingo which guards the entrance. You might get a bit homesick for your grandma when you see the nostalgic kitchen implements scattered around the interior, punctuated with a motley menagerie of critters from across the globe.
As the name suggests, Wander Kitchen offers a variety of dishes from around the world, so your tastebuds can travel in the comfort of this little country cafe. There are curries from India, spicy dishes from south east Asia, fish and meat dishes from Europe and the Orient, stews from Peru, and more. Most of the dishes change daily, but there are always a few curries. Diners are spoiled for choice, with no less than 10 lunch options on any given day. Servings are generous, prices are reasonable, and the flavors are dazzling! While the menu is mostly in Japanese, friendly staff will help you decipher the day’s fare.
A favorite of locals, many of whom come for the tasty home-made desserts and a quiet spot to enjoy an iced coffee or tea in a very chilled setting. Free internet and pet-friendly! Small children’s play area on the 2nd floor as well !
