28Bal is one of the coolest bar/restaurants in Kamakura, and also one of the newest, just recently celebrating its second anniversary. The main food here is Oden- Japanese vegetables and other delicacies boiled in a traditional ‘dashi’ or broth, but 28 also offers a variety of other dishes, including ‘kara-age’ (Japanese boneless fried chicken), and a yummy warm potato salad.
The spacious bar interior mixes old Japan with a trendy New York loft flourish. Many locals hang out here, but the crowd is friendly and welcoming. Located in Zaimokuza, it’s a bit of a walk from the station, but well worth the trip. The masters, Uzu and Makoto will make you feel right at home.
A large selection of alcohol to choose from, including Japanese traditional favorites like hot sake, shochu, and umeshu (plum wine).
